What is Lasting?

What is Lasting?
My stoic and determined grandparents were farmers in Northwestern Pennsylvania. I also grew up in a rural area and its landscapes and the people that work them have always interested me. I am drawn to both the ordered textures of a freshly tilled field, the patterns in the corn after the combine goes through, and the organic breakdown of trees and man-made structures that inevitably return to the earth. It seems to me that what lasts isn’t the result of mans’ efforts, but that of the continuing, seasonal, and generational cycles of nature. She always wins.
